Eric Padilla Built Palatable Promotions on a Decade Inside the Restaurant Industry

Every month, Eric Padilla shows up in person.

That detail sits at the center of Palatable Promotions, the Orange County digital marketing agency Padilla founded in May 2015, and it is the approach he has leaned on most consistently to set the agency apart. Rather than drawing from stock photography libraries or contracting photographers on a per-project basis (approaches the company notes are standard practice at many agencies), Padilla’s team visits each client location to shoot, edit and integrate original images directly into their social media campaigns. The thinking behind that model comes directly from his decade working inside the restaurant industry: food photographed in the actual space where guests will eat it reads differently to an audience than a library image.

From Tables to Strategy

Before founding Palatable Promotions, Padilla spent several years in the Southern California hospitality world. According to his account in a 2021 profile published by VoyageLA, his early engagement with social media began in high school through the online communities that preceded Facebook, and later found a professional application when he moved into a sales and marketing role at TAPS Fish House & Brewery, the multi-location Orange County restaurant and brewery group. His work there spanned the group’s properties, which included The Catch in Anaheim and Lillie’s Q in Brea.

That community-building work, Padilla says in the VoyageLA profile, eventually earned him a seat on the board of directors for the Brea Chamber of Commerce, a position he had held for seven years at the time of publication. He was later promoted to head of marketing for what he describes as a five-location restaurant group, then left in May 2015 to start Palatable Promotions.

The Agency Model

Palatable Promotions operates as a full-service digital marketing shop with custom pricing for each client. Its services include social media management, professional photography, search engine optimization, website design and development, email database management and monthly Google Analytics reporting. Social media retainers run on a minimum three-month contract, with a ten-percent discount available for clients who commit to a full year.

The photography work shapes everything else the agency does. By Palatable Promotions’ own description, the on-site visits allow the team to keep a client’s visual identity consistent across social channels, email campaigns and web presence without requiring separate coordination with an outside photographer. The company describes the model as particularly suited to businesses for which visual presentation is central: restaurants, retail concepts and service brands where a strong visual identity shapes how potential customers first encounter them.

The client base Palatable Promotions describes spans restaurants, ecommerce brands, service businesses, nonprofits, breweries and car dealerships. Business partners whose logos appear on the company’s site include organizations such as Custom Comfort Mattress, Taqueria De Anda and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Rooted in the Region

Padilla’s ties to the Brea business community extend well beyond his client work. The Brea Chamber of Commerce has listed him as a presenter in its Business Growth Series, where he has led sessions on digital marketing strategy alongside other local practitioners. He has also been involved with Brea Young Professionals, the Chamber’s networking program for entrepreneurs and early-career professionals in the area.

The Foodventures section of the Palatable Promotions website offers a window into the professional formation that preceded the agency. It is a running log of restaurant visits, short essays and food photography drawn from Southern California’s dining scene, maintained since the company’s early years. The entries cover charity dinners, neighborhood spots and client events, and the writing is personal rather than promotional. It reads like the work of someone who came to marketing through a genuine interest in the restaurant world, rather than the other way around.

Padilla attended California State University-Fullerton, by his own account. More than a decade after launching Palatable Promotions out of Orange County, the business he built around in-person visits, original photography and community connections continues to operate much as it started: one client, one location at a time.
