Ryan Ramshaw holds the first position on UpworkMRR’s United Kingdom leaderboard. Among the 9,431 UK-based freelancers the platform currently monitors, his estimated monthly recurring revenue of $30,522 places him first in the country and 66th globally, across a worldwide field of 363,103 freelancers tracked by the site.

UpworkMRR is a third-party platform that derives its estimates from publicly available Upwork profile data. It is not affiliated with Upwork, and its revenue figures are estimates rather than verified earnings. The platform tracks his total Upwork earnings at approximately $312,000, across 68 completed contracts with a per-project average of roughly $4,600. He joined in August 2018.

That per-project average explains part of how the ranking position was built. Sixty-eight contracts over eight years is a relatively modest contract count for a top-ranked freelancer. Larger, longer engagements rather than high volume is the model.

Ramshaw works out of Leicester, United Kingdom, as an AI automation developer and AI agent builder. His Upwork profile lists specializations across n8n workflow automation, API integration, CRM and marketing automation, voice agents, AI chatbot development, and prompt engineering, with tool experience covering Make, Zapier, Claude Code, GoHighLevel, ElevenLabs, and Vapi, among others. He holds Top Rated Plus status and a 100% Job Success Score across all contracts on the platform. UpworkMRR’s skill rankings place him first in the UK across more than a dozen categories, among them n8n, Make.com, Zapier, API Integration, AI Agent Development, and Prompt Engineering. Globally, the platform ranks him second in n8n.

One completed engagement, documented in a public client review on his profile, involved building a multi-API invoice processing system for a hospitality and real estate group with operations across Spain and Portugal, an n8n-based workflow on Google Cloud Run that handled invoice ingestion, parsing, and approvals.

Ramshaw describes starting his career in retail, stocking shelves at Holland & Barrett, the UK health food chain. The early period on Upwork was a learning process about how the platform distributes large-budget work. Technically capable freelancers were not consistently landing the larger projects. Clients with meaningful budgets were not finding the people best positioned to serve them. What Ramshaw worked out over time was that the gap traced back to four structural areas rather than effort or skill gaps.

Those four areas are profile, pipeline, sales, and delivery. Profile covers what a high-value client reads from a freelancer’s page and whether those signals match what the project actually requires. Pipeline covers whether inbound work arrives reliably or whether the freelancer is always pursuing outbound leads. Sales covers the client call and whether its structure builds confidence or creates friction. Delivery covers the systems that keep complex work organized once it starts.

All four are the backbone of Upwork Whales, the 1-on-1 mentorship program Ramshaw runs alongside his active practice. Applications come through a short intake form, and the site states that he does not accept everyone. The program runs individually rather than as a course or group format, a design that follows from the nature of the gaps: how they show up varies by specialty, by freelancer, and by the kind of client they are trying to reach.

In his own practice, Ramshaw says about eight client invitations arrive on a typical day. He answers nearly all of them with a Loom video, recorded at his kitchen table, showing his work and credentials. The same structure goes to almost everyone. On a call, he opens with a question about the project and listens. Scheduling goes through a single calendar link. The habits are consistent and, by his account, part of the same method the program teaches.

A YouTube channel alongside the program publishes the same framework publicly, covering profile optimization, Upwork strategy, and the mechanics of the four-area approach.

The 100% Job Success Score, maintained across 68 contracts and eight years on the platform, is the metric Upwork weights most heavily in its search and ranking systems. The UpworkMRR position sits on top of that.
